The wedding is finally over and although it was a blast, lets face it, we were over stressed and under rested. Elaina and I chose to honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It's about 35 miles south of Cancun and as you can see just as beautiful. What makes it even better is that it's more low key. There's not very many mega-resorts and the town is semi-touristy but you still know you're in Mexico. That is exactly what the Doctor ordered.
Here's a photo from our balcony. Every morning we would open the curtains to this view. We could definitely get used to this!
This is the view just to the left from our balcony. Our resort was medium sized with only about 50 rooms or so. All of them had a great ocean view however.
Just catching some sun or lack there of. I don't tan very well.

Every respectable resort HAS to have a swim up bar. We put that bar through it's paces. ALL INCLUSIVE BABY!!!
I occasionally chose to walk up to the bar when Elaina would just dive into the pool. Yes those are my white legs and feet, I'm not wearing socks.
We were in Mexico for Dia De Los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead. They had a little shrine set up in the main lobby so we had to snap a photo.
5th avenue is the town's "strip" where all of the vendors and restaurants are at. It's about 3 miles long and it was only a 15 minute walk from our resort. We had to occasionally take a rest because it was about 90 degrees and close to 90 percent humidity!
This was Elaina's favorite building in town. It's a hotel on top of a little shop. It was pretty hot so Elaina started peeling off clothes. Of course she was the only person walking through town in a bikini but she had her bodyguard with her so it was all good.
After hitting the strip we walked back to the resort. You have to remember that you're in the jungle so they have signs posted. In this area there were tons of drunk lizards. We didn't see any but I guess at one time it warranted having a sign.
Along the way there were mini Mayan ruins that have been preserved. You can just walk right up to them along the road.
On November 2 we went to a restaurant that served actual Mayan cuisine, thanks Jerry and Jakki! Since it was the actual date of Dia De Los Muertos the restaurant had a special show prepared that they only do once a year. Luckily we were there to experience it.
They even had Mayan dancers preforming. Pretty crazy stuff and really intense.
After dinner one night we found this place. We had seen it on the Travel Channel a few months prior and hoped to run into it. It's a really cool contemporary hotel with lounge and pool on the roof. Even for L.A. standards is a nice joint.
They have these beds you can chill on and order drinks from. They also project old Mexican movies on the side of their building. You can even go for a dip if you want whether you're a hotel guest or not.
The last couple days of our trip we got some sour weather. It would rain FEET in a matter of an hour or so and then clear up like nothing even happened. It was like clockwork everyday around 3pm. All you had to do is just wait it out and then get back to whatever you were doing.
Another day we went to Tulum. It's a coastal Mayan ruin that's been preserved and can be walked through. It was about an hour from our hotel so we had a tour bus take us. It was a little gloomy since it was on the tail end of our trip.
This picture was taken just after Elaina tripped and fell. She was all grumpy so I had to take a picture of her. HAHA!
You're not officially a tourist until you take a picture with your foot on something. Here's my best tourist photo.

Mayan tunnel
One day we found this cool bar. Instead of bar stools, they have swings hanging from a beam overhead. After I inspected the swings integrity I had a seat and ordered a beer.
All in all it was a great trip and we wouldn't trade it for the world. Elaina can't wait to go back but I told her we have plenty more places to see in the world!!!
