After Venice we went to Milan. It wasn't an original stop on our tour but we needed to kill a couple days before heading up to Switzerland. Elaina caught a cold towards the end of Venice so she wasn't feeling to good for Milan. She was pretty much sniffling and coughing the entire time but she was a trooper.
Walking the town we saw this little guy. It's pretty much a scooter with one wheel in the front and two wheels at the rear. It has handle bars to steer instead a wheel and a 50cc engine. Yes, that is a Ferrari emblem on the hood.
This is the Duomo, it's a HUGE cathedral and looks really cool.
Robot and Elaina checking it out. A couple was trying to capture the moment of their special wedding day in front of the Duomo. Then Elaina jumped in the background of their photo. NICE!
Just around the corner from the Duomo there is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II. It's essentially an outdoor shopping/cafe area that has a glass roof over it. Also, pretty cool because the ceiling is so high you really feel like you are outside. It's in the shape of a T and the ends are open as well.
After the galleria Elaina had to take a gelato break.
The city is pretty busy. Since it's in the north, it's a large business hub that connects Italy to the rest of Europe. Look at all those electric cables for the city tram!
Cool statue near the Duomo
No gelato for me, I'll take one of EVERYTHING please!
This is a really big fountain in the center of Piazza Castello.
Here is a really big castle, Castello Sforzesco. It was used to defend the city. Now it is a museo.
Robot thinks these holes where used to fire weapons from. He might be on to something.
Robot decided to go for a little swim, it was warm this day.
Once you walk through the castello and out the other side you come to what it was defending. This was the inner city of Milan but now it is Parco Sempione, it has a lake and tons of grass. People are just hanging out, listening to music, playing frisbee, and just enjoying themselves. It was really nice.
Now we are off to Switzerland. Milan was a great city with it's rich history yet still very modern. We've had our fill of Italy on this trip, so now we're ready for a change of scenary.
